I’m sure you’ve watched a customer have two pairs of earrings in her hand. One is green and they are beautiful, the other is blue and they are equally beautiful. And the customer can’t decide. The saleswoman approaches from behind and says, if you take both pairs, we’ll give you a 30% discount on one of them. And the customer ends up taking both pairs.
If you want to increase the sales of a costume jewelry store, you need to have a system in place to get customers to buy more quantity.
You can authorize the saleswoman to give a discount to those who buy more than one unit, or you can put up a poster indicating that discount.
Do you know someone who owns a clothing store, and doesn’t sell costume jewelry?
If you do, ask them to put on the mannequins in the window, some of their products (necklaces, bracelets, etc.), along with a card saying, “Jewelry products are for sale in the store…”
In return, offer to display some clothing in your store window.
But you can partner with other stores, other than clothing stores. For example, beauty salons.
How many different products does your store have?
At a minimum you will have a few dozen products, but most likely hundreds of them. That means if you post one photo on Instagram or Facebook a day with one product. And you will never need to repeat a photo. And even if you have to repeat it, no one will notice it.
Posting social media posts is boring, I know, but putting up a post with just a photo, the product name, and an indication of how the customer can buy it, is super simple and fast.
It’s impossible that out of 365 products, there isn’t at least one that they like. And even if they don’t buy, they will probably share the photos, or make a like.
Just because we know our store like the back of our hands, it doesn’t mean that people passing by right next door, know the store.
You wouldn’t believe how many people pass in front of a store every day, and have never noticed the existence of that store. I bet if you put up a sign saying that you offered a free ring to anyone, there would still be a lot of people who wouldn’t show up.
Never had a customer say to you, “Is this store new? I never noticed it.”
People are distracted. So you need a plan to say, “Hi, we’re here. And we have some beautiful things in here.”
It can be a more eye-catching facade, or an easel at the end of the street, or some other form. What’s important is that you don’t assume that everyone knows the store.

Do you have an automobile? If you have a car, you can use that car to advertise your store, even if it is a virtual store.
There are signs made of a flexible, magnetic material that you can “stick” to the car and “take off” when you want. In other words, there is no longer any excuse not to put advertising on our car.
When we are at work, we put up the sign. When we’re not at work, we can take the sign down.
The advantage of advertising on a car, is that it’s going to be seen by thousands of people, and in different places. And even if you have an online store, you should advertise on a car, by putting your store’s website.
But the sign has to be original and different. Choose some original, eye-catching colors. You don’t want to be mistaken for a real estate company, or a construction company.
